Southern Estate Alpacas now has a total of 34 alpacas, 1 guard lama and 4 Great Pyrenees guard dogs and a kitten. Now that we have everyone on the farm and a daily routine has been established we plan on adding several new additions to our herd. We have recently added some west coast bloodlines including a big name Jr. Herdsire that will define what Southern Estate Alpacas will soon become. Twelve of our 21 females are currently pregnant and we will be breeding Snowmass XXXNight Sky to the remaining "open" females over the next several months. We are currently installing steel-framed 5ft no-climb fencing to all the areas that were not already fenced in this way to keep the Pyrenees in and the predators out! We are also adding four "run-in" shelters to add a place for our prized alpacas to have a place to get out of the elements if they are in a pasture that is not adjacent to the barn. Our pastures are looking good and we have plenty of room for expansion since we are only using about 5 of our 20 acres at the present time.
